Take a look around the office, and choose two or three people who you know are successful. What makes them produce at that level?
Chances are good that the REATLTORS® you admire share a few common habits that you can adopt for yourself. Even if you’re a seasoned pro, there are some things that people do differently that you can adopt for yourself to make you more efficient, more productive and a better agent.
Here are some habits of highly effective REALTORS®:
They manage their time well
With all a REALTOR® has to accomplish, getting through a busy day is a marathon with a few sprints thrown in. Time management is vital.
They respond quickly
The cliché is that, “the early bird gets the worm.” Because real estate is a relationship business, REALTORS®, as a rule, have to be available to their clients when the clients need them. Phone calls, emails and texts are returned quickly and questions answered thoroughly.
They are transparent
Any real estate agent worth their salt lets the client know what is going on every step of the way. A buyer or seller should know at any time during the process exactly what is happening and why. If you’re using social media marketing for real estate, they should know what you’re doing and what the expected outcomes are.
They do the little things well
Part of becoming an outstanding agent is looking at the big picture when it comes to their job. Yes, they do the big things well, but doing the little things, like remembering people’s birthdays and sending thank you postcards is part of their brand.
They know when they’re most productive
Being a real estate agent is one of those jobs you don’t just turn off. You get phone calls at all hours, from colleagues and clients alike. If you’re an early bird, use that time to be productive with paperwork and research. If you’re a night owl, use that time. By the way, what’s the bird reference for the people who say they’re most productive right after lunch? I really should come up with a name for those people — hummingbirds?
They take time for themselves every day
Going to the gym or doing something they enjoy, and just getting away for half an hour allows the brain to recharge. This in turn helps focus, maintains energy and increases efficiency.
They constantly learn and try new things
Continuing education is essential. So is learning all you can about your community. Finding and trying new techniques to generate real estate leads is essential to staying competitive. Stepping outside their comfort zone is the norm, not the exception.
Of course, there are more habits of highly effective REALTORS®. What do you think is most important to an agent’s success?
