The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the ever-pressing question: how does one say “thank you” or show appreciation to clients? If your business dynamic is one for gift giving, try some of these creative and thoughtful gifts.
People like food. The options for food are pretty much limitless. Some businesses go for steak. Others give edible fruit arrangements. Homemade goodies can be even better. The personal touch of making the treats shows clients that time was specifically set aside to make the gift for them. Of course, then they get to eat it, too. Perfect!
Gift cards get a bad reputation as being impersonal or a quick fix to last-minute gifting, but this does not have to be the case. Gift cards to local stores and businesses can be a great way to show appreciation while also giving support to local community members. Get creative and offer a gift card to a local theatre production, brewery or winery, zoo or museum to help them break out of their normal routine. If you choose something that shows you did your research — if they have kids, a favorite place to eat, or the need for a date night — your thoughtfulness will make an even greater impact.
Terrariums are all the rage right now in décor and they can be implemented anywhere to bring a bit of the outdoors inside. Plus, they can be decorated with fun miniature garden fixtures for extra personalization.
If there’s one thing you know, it’s your client’s home. Use the knowledge you’ve gained about their personal style and preferences to handpick a piece of art for their home. Framed photography, wall hangings or art on canvas are a great start, but don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. If you’re looking for something inexpensive, turn your client’s own Instagram photos into magnets, a calendar or a photo book.
Check out websites like Pinterest, Etsy and Instagram to find more non-traditional ideas for gifts. Scope out local business websites as well for more options during the holidays. Remember, gifts of appreciation should be fun, personal and unique!
It takes a certain combination of grit, perseverance and
charisma to be a client-facing professional like a real estate agent. Agents
often have to embrace sales, marketing and customer service personas and
perform all those roles with flying colors to close even one deal.
With all of those responsibilities, it can be tough to stay
organized and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. Follow these helpful
habits to stay ahead of the game in your professional life.
- Schedule your free time. If you notice that you get distracted on social media, or
you need your daily coffee breaks, schedule them on your calendar. Planning
your interruptions puts you in control over how long you spend on them and will
help you get back to work faster.
- Pick a calendar and stick to it. Whether you use a Google Calendar, a dedicated
calendar app on your phone, or a paper pocket calendar, get in the habit of
entering all of your commitments in one place. Start your day checking your
calendar and end it with looking ahead at the next day.
- Be strategic about notifications. Carve out chunks of your day to check email,
work-related social media feeds, and other apps and tools that may take up your
time. Checking notifications each time they pop up is not efficient.
- Focus on one task at a time. When you’re running through your to-do list or staring
at an overwhelming schedule, prioritize your tasks and then tackle them one at
a time. Cutting big projects into bite-sized pieces will help you keep track of
your progress – and will allow you to keep moving forward rather than buckling
