Whether you’ve been a REALTOR® for decades or are just starting your career, these three (and FREE!) basic web strategies will improve your real estate marketing efforts and drive more traffic to your website by:
improving the effectiveness and reach of your online marketing efforts
helping you manage your online reputation
increasing leads from search engines like Google
increasing the number of new prospects visiting your website
1. First things first
If you haven’t already done so, create a gmail account. This will allow you to keep all of your efforts concentrated, while avoiding clogging your work email. If you have an existing gmail account, you're good to go.
2. Set up Google Alerts
Your Google account offers you a ton of features besides just email. These include "Google Alerts", which allow you to track “mentions” of any terms that you want. For example, if someone posts about “Real Estate in Savannah Georgia” on social media, blogs or websites, you’ll receive notification and a link to the source.
To find "Google Alerts", click on “More” in the navigation menu, and find “Even More” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down and you’ll find "Google Alerts" under “Specialized Search” (look for the bell icon).
One term that you’ll want to track is your own name. It’s not paranoia or vanity; it helps with online reputation management. Why is this important? Any time your name is mentioned on the Internet, you’ll know. It allows you to respond to a negative review or "mention" quickly.
You can track any term that you want. If you’re a REALTOR® in Savannah, tracking terms such as “real estate agent in Savannah” can help you identify new leads.
3. Register on business listing sites and start receiving referrals
In website marketing, there are two terms we like to track - reputation and referrals. First is your website's reputation. Just like in day-to-day business, a website's reputation is dependant upon trust. This is based off the content that’s hosted on the site and how often it is read by multiple visitors. Also, just like your business, your site builds it’s reputation by receivingreferrals. The primary way in which websites receive referrals is from other sites linking to it. It is a good idea to register your business on a variety of business listing websites. Be as complete and consistent as possible with the information you submit to all of the sites. Why is this important? Google’s search is now locally oriented. If someone does a search for “real estate agent in Savannah,” you want your name to appear in the search results.
It will take a little time, but you should register or claim your business listing on all of the following sites:
People are more likely to search online for business information than they are to go to such printed sources as the Yellow Pages. Make sure that your presence is established.
